I still remember the day I came to this country. It was a warm, summer day filled with sunshine, and the people on the bus were just as welcoming as the weather outside. I could tell that I was someplace that was truly accepting of me, and I was really impressed with the desire to stay where I landed. I talked with my parents about becoming a permanent citizen, and they were really supportive of my decision to try. Within a few months, we had started the paperwork, and I was on my way to citizenship.
